Beaver Solutions recently provided a Resident Information System for national retirement housing provider Hanover, at two of the organisation’s newest retirement housing estates in Scunthorpe and South Shields. Designed deliver essential up-to-date news and information, the digital displays are an integrated part of the retirement homes and an important part of daily life for the residents.

The screens are kept up-to-date by the staff as well as via live news feeds and the residents rely on them as an essential source of information, which helps better inform their daily decisions.

Essential Information

Many of the residents do not own, or choose not to use, a computer – meaning that information doesn’t always reach them through traditional channels. Via the screens, residents are now able to receive up-to-date information as they move through the building and, rather than a cluttered message board, digital screens provide a simple and tidy solution.

The screens are located in busy areas, such as the reception lobby and restaurant, ensuring that residents have easy access to timely information throughout the day. Residents can read live news feeds from the BBC, local weather announcements, information about upcoming events, bus timetables and other custom content from the Hanover staff.

Easy to Use

For the housing staff, the system is easy to maintain and update with new content. Using the latest release of Scala5 software, housing staff are also able to amend or add their own content whenever needed, via a simple web interface.

when time is of the essence

In 2007, the Beaver Group was approached by a global pharmaceutical company and asked to deliver a digital signage system for their US and UK headquarters. Since this original meeting, digital signage has been rolled out across their headquarters, recently completed in October 2009.

Key to this project is the simple and swift method which corporate messages are now distributed using Scala InfoChannel 5, with consistency and uniformity of design.

Using digital signage, our client has fulfilled a real business requirement which could not have otherwise been as successfully managed. Beaver Solutions (part of the Beaver Group) provided a complete system which will change and grow with any future requirements and office locations.

The Requirement

As a public limited company, our client is required to provide shareholders with quarterly financial reports. These reports are released to the stock exchange first at noon, meaning that in the past staff in the offices did’t always find out the details of the report at the same time as other stakeholders.

It’s important for all the staff made aware of the report results, as it can dramatically effect the business as a whole. The turn-around time for the release of this information is very short (only an hour from release to the communications team), so a system was needed to quickly upload the financial data and display it to staff in a clear and simple way.

In addition, our client also wanted to improve the delivery of information and corporate communications throughout their offices; whilst staff move throughout the building and are away from their desks.

The Solution

Beaver Solutions recently developed a custom web-based templated application, ready for population by the communciations team, which allows data for the financial reports to be uploaded and displayed throughout the offices, in time for the noon announcement. The data is simply uploaded and the system automatically puts it into pre-approved content templates. The content can then be scheduled, so it is displayed at the right time.

In addition to the quarterly reports, the digital signage is used to distribute web-casts, live TV, news headlines and a variety of specific targeted messaging. These regular messages are also controlled by our client and distributed throughout the US and UK headquarters.

For this digital signage solution, Beaver Solutions provided the content design, templates, Scala software, training and on-going support for their offices and staff.

The Benefits

Communications throughout the offices are now quick, easy and consistent with the rest of their other corporate communications. The quarterly reports reach the staff at the same time as other stakeholders, meaning everyone has the same level of information.

 

best e-business at FSB awards

The gala award ceremony for the Federation of Small Business (FSB) Awards 2009 was held last week and Beaver Solutions, part of the Beaver Group, is proud to have won second place in the category of “best e-business”.

The Beaver Group beat off a lot of difficult competition with our innovative and successful work in the field of digital signage, audio visual and web development. The awards noted our continuing work in integrating digital signage with a range of different web technologies.

We’re all proud to have won another award for our work and would like to congratulate all the other winners and finalists from the evening.
