Beaver Group has worked with leading provider of telecommunication and data communication systems, Ericsson. Beaver Group has provided a corporate TV system for Ericsson’s 11 locations in the UK and Ireland, known as the Marketing Unit for North West Europe.
The solution, which is based around the Scala InfoChannel 5 software, distributes a range of content, including Spotlight TV (the Ericsson channel), SKY News and live “all employee briefings” via the internal CAT5 cabling infrastructure. The final output is displayed on LCD and Plasma screens located at key meeting points and coffee areas around the building.
“With this system, we are also able to host live events utilizing the screens at various locations. So for instance, the quarterly reports, or all-employee meetings, will all get held in one location, but streamed live to every other site.” remarks Adam Lloyd, Head of Internal Communications, MUNWE
The solution has been installed since 2001 and is used to communicate messages which include corporate news, strategy announcements, worldwide Ericsson news, technology updates, RSS news from sources such as the BBC and local weather. The system is fully integrated in the corporate communication strategy and forms one of the key pillars of how information is provided on a daily basis to everyone in the Marketing Unit.
Charlotte, who is an employee at Guildford commented, “I find it useful. I don’t always get time to read the intranet, but if I happen to be getting a drink or walking by the TV’s, I get an update on what’s actually on the intranet.” Nathan, another employee adds “You’re passing, it catches your eye, you stop and watch an article and then you’ll move on. So I’d say most days you catch something; at least one piece of information.”
The system is fully managed via a web-interface, providing the ability to output new content to the employee channel, as well as allowing individual screens to be addressed. Content such as video, text, graphics and content from the internet (RSS news feeds, images and other content), can be glued together using Scala InfoChannel Designer and distributed for playback on the screens.
Adam Lloyd states, “For anyone using the system, it’s a dream to use - very intuitive, very easy to pick up. We’ve now got five editors within the UK and Ireland who are working actively updating content on a regular basis.”
Advanced scheduling features provide the ability for content to be targeted to different times, days and by using TV hardware in the central PCs, the system can also mix the Ericsson Employee channel with SKY News, creating a branded and dynamic information system.
“We get much more impact immediately with all staff and this means we can get actions out there very, very quickly. So I’d say it’s imperative, and has proved invaluable over the last few months.” comments Keith Westcott, VP Marketing, Ericsson.Give us a call on 0845 355 2555, and we can discuss how we can provide a successful and ongoing installation of corporate TV for your business.
