Beaver Solutions, part of the Beaver Group, has partnered with Showcase Cinemas to provide the digital signage in three multi-million pound luxury cinemas in the UK. This is a continuing project with Beaver providing content weekly, as well as on-going support. Showcase Cinemas is a brand of US-based National Amusements and specialises in luxury, state-of-the-art cinemas, creating exciting lifestyle destinations.
This deployment for Showcase Cinemas De Lux was a finalist for the Retail Systems 'Best use of in-store marketing in retail', won the digital signage category from the Retail Business Show 2009 was awarded title of 'Digital Signage Project of the Year' from the prestigious AV Awards 2008.
“We wanted a cinema that wasn’t ordinary and now we have one unlike any other.”
- Robert Steel, Vice President of Strategy and Development, National Amusements
With the ‘Cinema De Lux’ concept, Showcase has created enhanced recreational environments and chose digital signage to go with the premier customer experience on offer. Traditionally, printed signage would be used on the concessions stand menu boards, box office and for the posters of upcoming movies. These posters would previously be static and manually put up by cinema staff. With a digital signage solution, movie posters, trailers, box office screens and menu boards are elegantly displayed and can easily be updated.
Film posters and menu boards are also able to instantly react to any changes. For example, should a menu item go out-of-stock, then it can be removed from the menu. Or should an upcoming film need to be re-advertised, then any poster can be amended. The flexibility of digital signage allows Showcase to react, when they need to, to unforeseeable events.
Beaver Solutions works with the leading hardware manufacturers to deliver the quality installations. Sanyo 42” LCD Panels and Vogels wall brackets are used throughout the cinemas in a variety of landscape and portrait positions. The high definition RGB signal is delivered to the screens through structured cabling, using Scion Pro9000 transmitters and receivers. All the hardware is chosen for purpose and installed by Beaver Solutions.
Scala InfoChannel 5 is used to play and distribute the content to the screens, as well as handle the scheduling of playable channels on the content manager server. The screens are supplied content from player servers based on site at the cinema. Through an internet connection, these players can be remotely accessed from any location.
The content manager server is located at Showcase head office in Nottingham and accessed from Derby, Leicester and Bristol through the Showcase internal network.
“This cinema will undoubtedly set a benchmark for quality.”
- Richard Brown, Development Manager, Hammerson
Showcase are creating cinema experiences that surpass what has been done before. Beaver Solutions is proud to be the provider of the complete digital signage solution for the Showcase Cinema De Lux. With three successful installations, Beaver Solutions and Showcase are continuing their relationship to create a flexible, functional and premier customer experience. Furthermore, we are all very proud to receive the recognition for this digital signage project from the AV Awards.
